Business Minded Benefactors #AtoZChallenge

Coffee Time Tales- Fiction 55/drabble

After marrying Neil, a well-known businessman, Rhea looked forward for a hilarious and independent life, but her dreams of self-identity demolished like a sand-castle. It was a man’s-world; Neil like his father and brother found pride in only being the benefactor.

“The ladies in our family never go out to work because they are the big bosses of the family…. So dress, spend, enjoy and look after the family… that’s your only job darling”.

Being a woman of substance, easily available materialistic-happiness was not Rhea’s choice. Now it’s a cold war between the charitable-luxuries and struggling-identity.

I feel for her. I hope she puts her foot down and gets a job or finds something more to do to make her happy. Nice one.

    1. shellymona says:

Yes, and that’s going to give a meaning to her life. Thanks Iain!

  4. I actually know some women in this position… and I hate to say it but they all caved and gave in to family ‘requirements’ 😦

    1. shellymona says:

True…Maybe due to pressure of the family or their own will, which is not at all right.

Oh! I feel for Rhea. In fact, this is a sad reality for so many women!

    1. shellymona says:

Yes Shilpa, many women compromise with such situations following different reasons. Thanks

I pity her. That is hardly enjoyment in my view! Having one’s own identity, leading an independent life is what makes us happy!

    1. shellymona says:

Exactly Swathi! Independence brings happiness. Thank you

  7. Poor Rhea but it’s a sad reality for many women. The attitude and mindset has to be changed. Women deserve equal opportunities. Even though many believe in that, many don’t stand up to defend that philosophy..
